We’re pleased to introduce Receta Version 2.1.
While this release contains fewer individual changes than some of our recent updates, 2.1 represents a significant step forward for the platform.
At the heart of this release are two major new capabilities: the Receta API and a new system-wide ASK Receta experience.

🤖 ASK Receta – Ask Receta What You Need to Know
ASK Receta has taken a major step forward.
You can now access ASK Receta directly from the main navigation, allowing you to ask questions about your Receta data in plain, natural language.
Instead of working out which Find page or report contains the information you need, you can simply ask.
For example:
“Show me the customers who have ordered this month in highest value first.”
Or:
“Show me all outstanding Purchase Orders from last month.”
ASK Receta will interpret the request and help you find the relevant information.
The traditional Find pages and Reports aren’t going anywhere — and for many tasks they will remain the quickest way to work. ASK Receta simply provides another way of accessing your information when you don’t necessarily know where to look.
And this is just the beginning. Further ASK Receta enhancements are already planned for the next release.
🔌 NEW – The Receta API
For the first time, Receta now has its own read-only API.
The API provides programmatic access to many of the core pieces of information held within Receta, including:
- Customers
- Sales Orders
- Quotations
- Suppliers
- Purchase Orders
- Stock
- And other common operational data
This opens up a whole new range of possibilities for Receta customers and integrations.
The API can provide a foundation for connecting Receta with external applications, reporting platforms, custom tools, AI systems, and other business workflows — allowing Receta data to be accessed where it’s needed without giving external systems the ability to change your underlying data.
📱 Better Camera-Based Barcode Scanning
We’ve also improved barcode scanning for devices that have a built-in camera but don’t have a dedicated infrared barcode scanner.
The scanner is now quicker to launch and easier to use, making camera-based scanning a more practical option for production, warehouse, and stock management tasks.
🧪 More Accurate Formulation Calculations
We’ve improved formulation calculations, including resolving an issue that could affect small inclusions with low levels of purity and high overages.
These changes provide more reliable calculations in some of the more complex formulation scenarios.
📦 Clearer Returns Management
The Returns section has also been refined, with improved visual indicators showing the status of goods before they have been confirmed as returned.
This gives users a clearer understanding of what is still outstanding and what action may be required.
🎨 And Across the System…
As usual, Version 2.1 also contains a collection of smaller improvements, visual refinements, bug fixes, and usability enhancements across various pages and reports.
Version 2.1 is an important step in the evolution of Receta.
The new API starts to open Receta up to the wider software ecosystem, while ASK Receta begins to change the way users can interact with the information already contained within the system.
And with further developments to ASK Receta already planned for the next release, there’s plenty more to come.
